Carolyn M. Volentine

Carolyn M. Volentine, 71, devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend passed from this earthly world in Rayville, LA on November 13, 2017 to enter the Kingdom. She was a pastor, missionary, writer and counselor.

She was born December 1, 1945 in Portsmouth, OH. She earned her bachelor’s degree in education at Ohio State University, as well as master’s degrees in Church History, Theology and Bible at Scarritt College and Perkins School of Theology, respectively. She later received an Honorary PhD in Divinity from All Nations Anglican Seminary.

She pastored various congregations in her forty years of service in the Southeastern Conference of the United Methodist Church. After her retirement in 2006. Carolyn and her husband, Doyle, founded The International Charismatic Church Network, to bring the word of Christ to others.

Pastor Carolyn traveled throughout the world with her family as a child and then later as a missionary. She did extensive work in Russia, India, Africa, Europe and Mexico.

She wrote extensively for publisher Abingdon Press and the magazine Preaching Today. Carolyn also authored several novels, including Lord of Flemen and Count It All Joy. In addition, she illustrated several books.

Carolyn liked to crochet, tend African violets, sew, read and teach, but she loved her dogs, Shelties.

Pastor Carolynn is survived by her husband, Archbishop Doyle Volentine; her son, Michael Mark Brannon and wife Arraighna; brother, George Pullen; Doyle’s four children, Ken, Angie, Tonya and Michael L.; and numerous friends.

Graveside memorial services will be held 11:00am Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Welcome Home Cemetery in Grayson, LA with Bishop Roger Temple officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home West Monroe. Donations in her memory may be contributed to God’s Peace Ministry, 44 Crew Lake Loop, Rayville, LA 71269.
