Obituary for Clarence "Steve" Clark

Clarence "Steve" Clark
Clarence Stephen “Steve” Clark

Clarence “Steve” Clark, departed this world for his heavenly home on May 24, 2018. Funeral services will be 3pm Sunday, May 27, 2018 in the chapel of Griffin Funeral Home 911 Warren Drive West Monroe with Bro. J. Clint Thornton, of West Monroe Christian Fellowship officiating. Visitation will be from 1pm until 3pm prior to the funeral.

After struggling with cancer for the past three years, we can only imagine what Steve is experiencing after walking through Heaven’s gate and finally seeing the face of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, welcoming him to his reward of eternal life. Having only sung about it in church the song entitled “Our First Day in Heaven”, I can only imagine what a ‘first day’ he is experiencing. Steve enjoyed the outdoors, bringing home his share of deer and fish, but his favorite pastime, purpose and very heart, was witnessing about the love of God and His saving power, and sharing his testimony with everyone he met. Steve felt blessed that his sickness afforded many opportunities to do this very thing, one opportunity in particular was the Nursing Home Ministry he had at the Landmark. That faithful group has a special place in his heart.

Steve is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence “Tebe” and Juanita McDowell Clark, his sister, Phyllis Whatley Haney, and half-brother, Ronnie Cooper. Loved ones remaining to grieve this tremendous loss is his wife of 29 years, Jennifer Ebarb Clark; a daughter, Amanda Regan and husband, Ryle; grandsons, Christopher Mayo, Cooper Mayo (and their father, Brian), and Sam Regan; niece, Paige Beard and family; nephews, Neil Whatley and family, and Paul Cooper; also a host of loving cousins, his church family, special brother in the Lord, John Carroll, and Bro. Clint Thornton, his pastor, confidant, and friend.

Pallbearers will be Terry Cox, Ricky Milton, Russell Miles, Jeff Greer, Frank Woolsey and Wesley Beard.

I love you, Darling, so very much, and thank you for a wonderful life…but most of all for leading me to Christ 29 years ago so I, too, will be enjoying an eternal life with you. Look for me “tomorrow”.
