Obituary for Mary Janelle Simons
Mary Janelle Shaw Simons
Mary Janelle Shaw Simons, 62 of West Monroe, Louisiana passed away on June 28, 2017 peacefully in her home. Mary was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on July 16, 1954 to Bro. William B. “Jack” Shaw and Margie Seward Shaw. Mary had many talents, most of which she used towards the glory of God, like her beautiful voice and her skills on the piano and organ.
Mary worked for much of her life as a licensed florist. Mary accomplished so much in her life here on earth, but together, her greatest accomplishments were her children.
Mary was preceded in death by her father, William B. Shaw; her mother, Margie S. Shaw; her brother, Douglas F. Shaw; her brother-in-law, Jim Cartee and her nephews, Dennis D. Lang and Shannon Shaw.
Mary was married to William H. Simons of Chatham, Louisiana for 40 years and he survives.
She is also survived by her children: three daughters with their partners, Heather Higgins and Paul Cox, Berkley Tyler and Brandon Tyler, and Jordan Pierce and Robert Pierce; one son and his partner, Adam Simons and Brandy Taylor; and nine grandchildren. Also survived by her sister, Jackie Cartee; her brother and his wife, Paul and Belinda Shaw.
Pallbearers will include Larry Crawford, Trevor Smith, Shane Matthews, Matthew Waterman, Jacob Waterman, and Danie Peel. Honorary Pallbearers are Adam Simons, Charles Higgins, Christopher Higgins, and Carson Simons.
Visitation services will be held Friday, June 30, 2017 from 5pm until 9pm and the funeral will be Saturday, July 1, 2017 at 2pm. Both will be taking place at Chatham United Methodist Church in Chatham, Louisiana.
