Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah Lillian Owen of West Monroe, LA will be 2:00pm Sunday, May 28, 2017 in the chapel of Griffin Funeral Home West Monroe with Charles Gagnon officiating. Interment will follow at Serenity Gardens in West Monroe, LA under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home West Monroe. Visitation will be from 5:00pm until 8:00pm Saturday, May 27, 2017 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Owen was born October 9, 1932 in Steele, MO and passed from this life on May 25, 2017 in West Monroe, LA at the age of 84. She was a lifelong member of the Nazarene faith and she loved spending time with family, friends and pets. She enjoyed gardening, camping, reading, drinking hot tea, dressing up and having her hair and nails done. She loved the ballet, classical music and old gospel music.

She is preceded in death by her husband, W. T. Owen, parents, Eugene and Vera Hood; three children, Celeste Bones, George E. Bones, Jr. and Michael Owen; one sister, Naomi Mitchell.

Survivors include her daughters, Joyce Carter and husband Kenneth of West Monroe, Veronica McKenzie and Mark Otteson of Angola, IN, Candy Owen and husband Gregg of New Haven, IN and Eileen Weldon of Rio Rancho, NM; one son, Stanley “Rollie” Bones of West Monroe; one brother, Charles Hood and wife Kathy of Hugo, OK; four sisters, Barbara Atkins of Mountainview, AR, Annette Van Doven of Bethany, OK, Mary Young of Canadian, OK and Margaret Cooksey of Bethany, OK; three adopted daughters, Linda Gagnon, Patricia Fisher and Barbara Robideaux; special best friend and grandson-in-law, Tim Bond of Swartz; her feline companion, “Miss Priss”; also survived by thirty grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, seven great great-grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Sykes, Jr., T.J. Sykes, Chase Faircloth, Landon Tripp, Joshua Hunter White and Christian Bond. Honorary pallbearer will be Tim Bond.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Owen Myers, M.D. and the staff of First Choice Hospice, to her nurse, Amanda Bowman and to her physical therapist, Cynthia Rials.
