Condolences

Condolence From: Diane Gaines
Condolence: I have very fond memories of Ms. Stennett. She was a friend of my grandmother, my mother, and myself. She was a welcome, and well-loved, presence in our neighborhood on Wheelis Street in West Monroe. Ms. Stennett, in her later years, would stop and talk to me and call me "Billie Ruth", which was my mother's name. Ms. Stennett, I suppose, thought I favored my Mom, which was ok with me. I have missed seeing her for quite a long while now, I knew her health must be declining rapidly. She was always very kind-natured, sweet, and cordial to everyone she met, always taking time to stand on the side of the road and talk, like neighbors used to do years ago. I enjoyed those talks. She will be sorely missed. I think she is pretty much the last of those I remember meeting when I was a small child. My grandmother would take me to visit friends in our neighborhood, with Ms. Stennett being one of her (and my) favorites. I wish I could attend her service, but I must take my husband to his dialysis appointment today (Monday). To the family, please know how special Ms. Stennett was to all of us!
