Memorial services for Rev. Matthew S. Romano of West Monroe, LA will be 5:00pm Sunday, April 23, 2017 at New Life Community Church 7616 Hwy 165 N Monroe, LA 71203 with Dr. Robert Clanton officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home West Monroe.

Rev. Romano was born October 1, 1931 in Newark, NJ and passed from this life peacefully at his home in West Monroe, on April 20, 2017 at the age of 85. He was a member of New Life Community Church and a member of the Greater Ouachita Lions’ Club. He was a minister of the First Church of God faith for many years and had a love for people and a strong desire to pray for others everywhere. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, he loved people and never met a stranger, and most of all he loved his family.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Kathryn N. Romano; his parents, Matthew and Helen Romano; and one daughter, Helen Kathryn Romano.

Survivors include his wife, Rose T. Romano of West Monroe; three sons, Mark M. Romano and wife Jo of Virginia Beach, VA, Douglas A. Romano and wife Lisa of South Mills, NC, and Greg Romano of West Monroe; his step-children, Hazel T. Etrata and husband Emmanuel of Roselle, NJ and Herbert Malabanan of Clifton, NJ; his step-daughter-in-law, Carmen Maarcoso of Clifton, NJ; five sisters, Alice Romano, Cathryn Ringe and husband Charlie, Marie Dahl and husband Carl, all of Sun City, FL, Barbara Templeton and husband John of Washington, UT and Eileen Romano of Toms River, NJ; two brothers, John Teague and wife Sue of Knoxville, TN and Chris Romano of Reseda, CA; also survived by ten grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, two great great-grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends.
